Dostinex is used to treat certain hormone problems. Dostinex is alsoused for prolactin-producing tumors, Parkinson's disease, and toadjust various hormone levels in certain diseases. Dostinex is alsoused to reduce or prevent breast milk production (except afterchildbirth)
Dostinex is known to cause orthostatic hypotension; therefore, youshould be careful if you are taking other drugs to lower your bloodpressure. If you suffer from hepatic impairment, then you should gofor reqular checkup while taking Dostinex. This drug containsCabergoline , which is a dopamine receptor agonist. The drug may beabused recreationally for the purpose of reducing the male refractoryperiod. It may decrease woluntary alcohol consumption. You should becareful while using this drug if you are hypersensitive to ergotderivatives.
Dostinex is taken by mouth twice a week. Dosage is adjustedgenerally at 4 week periods based on blood tests. Take Dostinexexactly as directed. Do not take more or less than prescribed by yourdoctor
Dostinex may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these sideeffects are severe or do not go awaw: weakness, muscle cramps,abnormal dreams, feeling dizzy, fatique, nausea, omiting, tingling ornumbness sensation, constipation, headache, drowsiness.
The following side effects are uncommon, but if you experience anyof them, call your doctor immediately: itching, fainting, visionproblems, swelling of feet or ankle, chest pain, a skin rash.
Tell your doctor your medical history, including any allergies,psychiatric illness, liver disease, high blood pressure or high blood.Avoid alcohol as it may aggravate side effects of Dostinex, Tell yourdoctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. If you become pregnant while taking Dostinex, call yourdoctor immediately. Dostinex may make you drowsy, Do not drive acar or operate machinery until you know how this drug affects you.
